[2018] SGMC 19 Public Prosecutor v Yan Jun
See here for Grounds of Decision.
At trial and on appeal, I raised the same question about how to lawfully hold a protest in a public place against the corruption on the part of licensing officers so my further protest could be lawfully made?
Neither DPP Kannan G nor District Judge Luke Tan or High Court Judge Chua Lee Ming was willing to answer my question but insisted that the police were in a position to determine the merits of an application for a protest permit even if the protest was against the integrity of the police.
These legal professionals probably deliberately forgot a fundamental principle of natural justice which states that no-one should be a judge in his own case (Nemo iudex in causa sua).
