Subject: Follow-up: Request to STB for investigations
Dear Mr. Keith Tan,
I refer to my email dated Jun 18, 2021 to you about the intelligence activities
in hotels in Singapore. I haven’t received your response yet.
The receptionist of Hotel Ascendere
explained to me on the afternoon of Jun 18 that the TV sounds from room 303
were caused by the TV itself. I requested to move from 301 to 303 and found the
sound volume was set to the maximum, or 100, and 15% of the maximum value, or
15, was good enough for a guest to watch TV. Surprisingly, I stayed in 303 for
one night but the TV didn’t switch on automatically. The receptionist suggest
that I should stay on 5th or 6th floor and I disagreed. I
can assure the intelligence officers that I won’t jump from the 3rd
floor.
On the early morning of Jun 19, someone
checked into room 301 and made huge noises to wake me up. At about 7am, the
phone in 301 kept ringing for quite some time until I got out of the 303. The
receptionist explained that the guest required a morning call. I didn’t see any
guest at 7am. It would be much better if the receptionist came to 301 and
knocked on the door if there was a guest inside. It is evident that the
receptionist was considerate of the all guests’ request except my request.
There were about 6 rooms on the 3rd floor, and I was the only guest
there. I wondered why the guest checked into 301 but no other rooms at night.
It is evident that the Hotel, or Singapore
Intelligence behind it, was playing a game with me. You’d better look into my
complaints so Singapore will not gain a reputation as the land of spies.
In the future, I will copy each of my
complaint email to PM Lee Hsien Loong.
Than you.
Regards,
Yan Jun

Subject: Request for investigation
Dear Mr. Keith Tan,
I am writing to the CEO of
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to remind the STB of espionage activities
conducted in hotels. I wish that I don’t have to copy such a complaint letter
to the international community again.
On Jun 15, 2021, I gave my
feedback to STB about my bad experiences with several hotels at STB’s request.
I am sure that these bad experiences are caused by Singapore Intelligence
indirectly. In fact, I had already I complained to PM Lee Hsien Loong on Oct 16, 2020, about the
espionage activities in S Inn Chinatown and copied the email to you.
The facts
On Jun 15, 2021, I
checked into Hotel Ascendere (1 Lor 10 Geylang, Singapore 399035) and was
assigned to room 301.
On Jun 17 at 2am, I
found that the TV in the neighbouring room 303 was left on and it was loud
enough to wake up other guests, if any, at the same level. I called the front
desk to complain about the noise but the receptionist claimed the room was
empty. I went to the front desk and got this receptionist to switch off the TV.
After he opened the room door, no one was inside 303 but the TV was on. This
receptionist’s explanation was that the TV was switched on by its own. It was
apparently a lie and he most probably was the person who turned on the TV.
On Jun 18 at
5:30am, I was woken up by TV sounds from room 303 again. I called the front desk
but got no response so I went downstairs to talk to the same receptionist.
Although he furiously replied that the TV could be left on by the guest who had
stayed in the room, I was absolutely certain that no one had checked into room
303 since Jun 15. I was the only guest on the 3rd floor. The
receptionist refused to switch off the TV in room 303 on the ground that he was
the only person at the front desk. He blamed me for giving him a hard time and
told to leave the hotel. I didn’t argue with him.
My request
I hope that the STB
can look into my complaint about Hotel Ascendere by giving a call to it. The
phone number of this hotel is 68411211. Please advise me whether I should
continue staying in this hotel because the same thing will happen again in other
hotels after I check in.
I think PM Lee
Hsien Loong can easily announce his stepping down if he is scared of my
protest. I have no objection to another circuit breaker.
Thank you.

Yan Jun

Subject: Feedback to STB:0012002359
Dear STB,
In response to your request
for feedback, I give a brief account of my recent experience of staying in 3
hotels for your reference.
New Cathay Hotel (Jun 3 to Jun
6)
I stayed in New Cathay (443 Geylang Rd, Singapore
389403) from Jun 3 to Jun 6 when the receptionist deliberately drove me out. On
Jun 3, the male receptionist strongly persuaded me into choosing the room that
was not facing the street but I wouldn’t take it. He then deliberately blamed
me for not paying $45 for the room until I took out the receipt received 5
minutes ago.
On Jun 6, a female receptionist insisted that I must
check out before 10am despite the rule was written in black and white that the
check-out time was 11am (Fig 1). She explained that I was assigned to check out
at 10am according to STB policies to avoid a gathering at the counter, however,
she was unable to show me any written document. In contrast to the room rates
listed on the counter, she insisted the room rate on Sunday was $100 but not
$50. She further explained that $50 was for the guest who checked in after 7pm.
If her explanation was acceptable, a guest who booked the room for 2 nights
from Saturday to Monday must leave the room temporarily from 11am to 7pm on
Sunday to get a room rate at $50.
I request STB to look into my complaints against New
Cathay Hotel about discrimination.
Fragrance Hotel- Rose (Jun 6-8)
The receptionist of the Fragrance Hotel- Rose (263
Balestier Road, Singapore 329715) asked me for my mobile number for no reason
and insisted that the window of the room should not be opened due to COVID-19
situation. I certainly thought not.
JH Hotel
On Jun 12, I tried to book a room in JH Hotel (8 Lor
10 Geylang, Singapore 399041) but the female receptionist didn’t allow me to
check in (Fig 3). It was evident that JH tried to drive me to Hotel 81 Cherry.
The STB ought to look into this matter.
ST Signature Chinatown (Jun 13 to Jun
15)
The hotel (273A South Bridge Road Singapore 058822)
required me to pay a deposit of $80 which was supposed to be refunded on Jul 6,
or in 3 weeks’ time after the checkout. I preferred to pay the deposit by cash
but Ellen, a staff member there, refused to take it. She claimed she was not
the person-in-charge and there was no person-in-charge.
It is hard for me to understand why ST Signature has
preferred self-service and has refused to check a guest’s ID. The Hotel requires
the guest to upload a picture of his ID or passport without even verifying it
((Fig 4). The question is who will take responsibility if a guest upload a
doctored picture of his ID. In addition, the Hotel didn’t even provide the
guest with a cup. I was fortunate enough to get one of the two drinking glasses
left in the cupboard. The room was so small that a guest barely had enough room
to do push-ups. The lower bed was sealed with glass so the gust must be very
careful not to break the glass while moving the metal chair around. The room
was dark so it was an ideal place for sleep.
I hope that ST signature cane refund the deposit to me
as soon as possible.
Hotel Ascendere
Now I stay at Hotel Ascendere (1 Lor 10 Geylang,
Singapore 399035). The room is spacious, but the hotel can only provide the
guest with a towel instead of a quilt (Fig 5, 6). I would appreciate it if the
STB can contact the management of this hotel to provide me with a quilt.
Spy activities
With regard to the spy activities I encountered at a
number of hotel last year, I would comment on the news reported today “ISD detains
S'porean Dickson Yeo, who spied for China, for acting as paid agent of foreign
state”. Since it
was clearly stated in it that “Yeo was issued an order of detention under the
ISA on Jan 29”, I am wondering why the Government has chosen to
report this old news today. I think it will be extremely difficult for the
Government to accuse me of acting as an agent for a foreign state because I had
already requested the Government to look for evidence in my email dated Feb 19, 2018. In my opinion, Singapore Intelligence ought to think
more about how to deal with my allegations about their harassment against me.
I am certainly over 16 years of age. Thank you for
your attention.
Regards,
Yan Jun
